William Jewell College - Gano Chapel
The John Gano chapel was built in 1926 through a donation from Elizabeth Price, John Gano's great-granddaughter. The chapel was named after Gano and features a painting of him baptizing George Washington in the Potomac River during the American Revolutionary War. The college does not take a stance on whether the baptism actually happened, but the painting is one of the school's most popular tourist attractions.
